Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC)

The Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission is an independent constitutional body tasked with monitoring revenue accruals to the Federation Account and ensuring fair and equitable distribution of resources among the three tiers of government in Nigeria. It plays a vital role in promoting fiscal federalism, economic stability, and transparency in public finance.

The Commission advises on fiscal matters and revenue allocation formulas that support balanced development and effective governance.

Core Functions and Responsibilities:
  • Monitoring the accruals and disbursements of revenue to and from the Federation Account
  • Reviewing and recommending equitable revenue allocation formulas for the federal, state, and local governments
  • Advising the federal and state governments on fiscal efficiency and economic planning
  • Determining the remuneration of political office holders, including the President, Vice President, Governors, and legislators, in accordance with constitutional provisions
  • Conduct periodic reviews of the revenue allocation system to ensure it reflects current economic realities and national priorities
  • Promoting fiscal discipline, transparency, and accountability in the use of public funds
  • Collaborating with the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), and other revenue-generating agencies to enhance national revenue performance
