The Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) is a pioneering anti-corruption agency in Nigeria, established under the 1979 Constitution. It is tasked with maintaining high standards of public morality in the conduct of government business and ensuring that the actions and behavior of public officers conform to the highest standards of public morality and accountability.

Core Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Receiving asset declarations by public officers
  • Examining asset declarations to ensure compliance with requirements
  • Retaining custody of such declarations and making them available for inspection by any citizen on terms and conditions prescribed by the National Assembly
  • Ensuring compliance with and, where appropriate, enforcing the Code of Conduct for Public Officers
  • Investigating complaints about non-compliance with or breach of the Code
  • Referring cases to the Code of Conduct Tribunal for prosecution where necessary
